Problem

There is an ever-increasing pattern amongst the YouTube community to document and post videos that pertain to their acrimonious interactions with their local law enforcement.

This is because there are two categories of citizens, as far as I can tell, who are aggrieved in these interactions.

Those who express themselves as sovereign citizens — they have an interpretation of the law that is incompatible to the (mostly) common law jurisdictions they are engaging with.

And two, those who are outraged at the treatment they have experienced by the police, despite the circumstances and action possibly being in line with existing statutes.

The problem that arises is a general ignorance from one party or another.

The police are not the repository of all offences and ordinances in these situations, and neither are the citizens.

Solution

There are already applications for smartphones that exist that simplify the process of referring to statutes and ordinances for summary and indictable offences in jurisdictions like New South Wales.

However, a more readily accessible and jurisdictionally adaptable approach – maybe even a universal platform that can analyse where you are in the world based on geolocation – should exist and be amendable to common and civil jurisdictions.

Ideal for travellers.

Should a company develop such a platform, the public service they would supply by allowing civilians to quickly arm themselves with their rights or responsibilities could go a long way to alleviate tensions in the communities where arbitrary power rules due to a general ignorance of the law.

There is no defence to an ignorance of the law, so it pays for a fast-paced and legally digestible approach for ordinary citizens to have access.

That would be the key — fast-paced and legally digestible for non-legal practitioners.

We have access to almost anything from food delivery to ridesharing all with the swipe of a finger…

Why not access to necessary information in a timely manner also?
