We’ll all be celebrating furiously fast fiber in Oregon in November.

At this year’s FTTH Connect Conference in Anaheim, the Council selected Canby Telcom to celebrate the upcoming Gimme Fiber Day on November 4. Canby Telcom serves the northern Willamette Valley of Oregon and rolled out gigabit high-speed Internet last April to over 2,500 Canby addresses. They’re helping to build one of the first gigabit communities in the Pacific northwest. At the announcement, economic development director with the City of Canby, Renate Mengelberg called the service “…a game-changer for attracting new industry and jobs to the city.”

“Fiber is really on fire! We are excited to honor our award recipients who have dedicated so much time and energy to advancing the fiber-to-the-home industry,” said FTTH Council President Heather Burnett Gold. “The benefits of fiber-to-the-home are truly endless — just look at our recent study on real estate evaluations — and I look forward to seeing what these individuals and organizations have in store for the future of high-speed broadband.”

More to come!
