Because drabbles are short, please consider staying on this page for at least 30 seconds. I’d love to know you were here. 💕

The day started with promise, but for Clarissa, every day felt the same: get up, feed the kids, work, then collapse.

It didn’t help that Gary woke each morning with an exuberant enthusiasm that irked the staunchest cynic.

Rise and shine, sweetie. Today’s going to be FANTASTIC! One to remember. You know why, don’t you?”

With a tilted head, Clarissa looked at him quizzically.

“The kids leave for sleepover camp, and I’m leaving on business.”

Clarissa buried her face in her pillow as her abandonment issues surfaced.

Fantastic? With everyone gone?

It was going to be a long, lonely summer.

Sometimes, no matter how we look at life, we aren’t happy until we look at it fresh and celebrate the pros over the cons.

Remember to visit Fiction Shorts often daily so you don’t miss my daily drabbles and those of other deserving drabblers.
