Drabbles are short — only 100 words. Please go to the bottom of the page & stay on it for 30 seconds or more so the stories are counted as read. Please read, highlight, clap, and comment — let us know you’ve been here! Thank you! 😁

Today’s word is “catalyst” and the drabble is based on the vending machine not working properly.

The fight last night was the last straw, and it wouldn’t take much to push her over the edge.

“I’m leaving him,” she told Gina. “I can’t take it anymore”.

“Don’t do anything stupid,” her co-worker pleaded.

She gathered her laptop and headed towards the door. Her mind had been racing, leave him or hurt him. He’d punched her one too many times.

Before she left, she put $1 in the vending machine and pressed K4. The Milky Way dropped and got stuck.

This was the catalyst.

“FOR F***S SAKE!” she screamed as she pulled the gun from her purse.

Domestic violence is no joke. If you or someone you love is in danger, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1.800.799.7233.
