“How can I ask her out for a coffee?” asked Sameer. He was the shyest person you could ever meet.

Ravi was holding a grudge against him since Sameer had been chosen for the promotion over him.

Ravi seized this opportunity and helped him draft an email to send to Kavita.

Dear Kavita. I thought it might be nice to grab a cup of coffee. I would love to chat more and get to know you better outside of work.

I’ve heard the Grand Cafe is perfect for starting new relationships. Will wait for you there tomorrow at 8:30 AM.

Regards,
Sameer

The next day, Sameer waited until 9:15 AM, then ordered a takeaway latte, disappointed. As he waited for his coffee, an email from HR popped up:

Hi Sameer,

We’re setting up a meeting to discuss an email you recently sent to one of our colleagues.

Please prioritize this.

You will also love to read this drabble by Jessica Morgan
