Fiction Shorts Random Drabble #100
A Dozen Armed Rabbits
Man has killed rabbits for centuries; now it’s their turn
Today’s word is ‘perseverance’
Your challenge is to write a drabble (a story of exactly 100 words) featuring the day’s random word. It’s a quick read, so please hang around for at least 30 seconds. It’s a good thing.
Bingo insisted on perseverance, even when out hunting. One day, he spotted a rabbit and shot it. I thought that was cruel, so I tried to breathe life into it.
Moments later, Bingo’s head separated from his body.
An alien ship dropped from the sky; a dozen armed rabbits hopped out.
One of them took their comrade, bowed, and stepped into his starship; the wounded rabbit hopped out of his arms and said, in English, “ Thank you.”
I think of those dozen armed rabbits in a spaceship almost daily. I haven’t once thought of Bingo. He was an asshole.
