Drabbles are short — exactly 100 words. Please stay on this page for at least 30 seconds, so the stories are seen by Medium as “read.” And please feel free to highlight, clap, comment — let us know you’ve been here. Those of us on this Drabble Journey love to engage with readers and writers. Thank you!

Friends for decades, the group gathered around the campfire, laughing as they recalled the time in their 20’s when they sat in their kitchen nook. Brooke had been trying to unhook the fish she wanted to cook.

They all said “Poor Brooke,” as they watched from the nook.
Her boyfriend caught a fish in the river Chinook.
He brought it back for Brooke to cook.
But he left before taking out the hook.
Brooke stood in the kitchen all day with a book.
Trying as hard as she could to look,
For a way that she could remove that hook.

LESSONS:
1. Cherish memories with old friends.
2. Don’t let your boyfriend off the hook, when he brings home fish for you to cook.

This is part of a Dailly Drabble journey, with Nancy Oglesby and others, through the publication, Fiction Shorts .
