Today’s random word is: treat

Lizzie was the leader of the group. What she said became law. Her behaviour was the exemplar for the rest of them. They were a force to be reckoned with.

Then there were the fringe dwellers, those who were too afraid to find friendship in less-popular groups. They were the dross shovellers, the ones who bowed in homage to Lizzie, too afraid not to!

Lizzie treated the dwellers shamefully, spat on any ideas they might have, making school days nightmares.

On the day Lizzie accidentally died, her group, immediately powerless, splintered, and the fringe dwellers scattered like autumn leaves.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.

Here too, is the link to Nancy Oglesby’s Fiction Shorts where you may join and write your own drabbles.
