Today’s random word is: RAILROAD

Sara was walking along the restored railroad track, when she noticed things were dying along the verges. Long grasses, mini-beast homes, had been chemically sprayed.

She rang Council, explaining wildflowers would have had a much better outcome and would look prettier.

She asked permission to spray some seeds along the verges.

In time she diligently added more wildflowers, (plus her organic compost).

Some other wildflowers took up residence along the track, as uninvited, but welcome guests.

Later on, when the soil had healed, she planted some herbs and vegetable seeds.

The verges suddenly became a popular communal produce garden.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.
