A Good Shepherd
What are a shepherd’s most important qualities?
Today’s random word is definition.
Alfred had the most beautiful sheep in the valley. Each spring he took them into the mountains to eat tender grass and drink sweet water.
One spring he felt too stiff to climb the mountain. He declared he would give his sheep to whoever told him the best definition of a shepherd. Three people approached.
Harold said, “A shepherd feeds his flock and protects them from wolves.”
Edgar said, “A Shepherd tends his flock and shears them.”
Edyth said, “A shepherd watches her flock and learns from them.”
Alfred gave them to Edyth, saying, “Flocks teach us more than books.”
Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That’s the problem.
