The word for 8/20/24 was recognize, and the setup was that “the rug began to move.”

A Drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words. No more. No less.

Henry’s new rug finally arrived. He recognized it as looking just like the magic carpet in the Aladdin movies. The catalog claimed it was “unique and lively.”

Suddenly, the rug began to twitch and wiggle. Then, it scrunched and slid across the floor like an inchworm.

“What the…?” Henry thought he was going crazy, but the rug kept heading straight for the door.

“Hey!” he shouted. “Where do you think you’re going?”

The rug gave one final wave goodbye and darted out the open window.

“Well,” he said to himself, “I guess the catalog wasn’t kidding about the ‘lively’ part.”

Did you know you can write past drabbles anytime you feel the inspiration? We will publish them every evening around 9 or 10 pm. So if you missed some words along the way, go ahead and write a story for them and submit it. Just be sure to put the date, the word, and the twist like I did at the top.
