Drabbles are short. If you stay on this page for at least 30 seconds it will count as a read. I appreciate your time and will do (mental) backflips for claps, highlights, and comments.

Spirituality is a complex subject in space. At least that’s what Fisher was told. He pulled his rolling duffel behind him and stared at the Wayfarer through the window to his left. To his right, the crews of a half dozen ships congregated in the station cafe. Having never left Earth, Fisher now questioned the wisdom of floating off confined with over two hundred strangers.

The personnel hatch connector flexed worriedly as he passed through it. He briefly imagined breaking through the thin material and disappearing into the vacuum between the ship and the station. Morbid thoughts for a minister.

Today marks Day 41 of the Fiction Shorts drabble challenge. Nancy Oglesby writes, “If you are unfamiliar with a drabble, it is a fiction story of exactly 100 words.” Each day, she gives a random word prompt to inspire us.

I have given myself an additional challenge to create a series of science fiction short stories that take place on the same spaceship, but which are independent stories that can be read in any order. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy some of the others in the set!
