Been a while getting to walk up the great drabble street. If you’re new here, a drabble is a story of 100 words. Take your tie looking around. Remember to drop a comment to let me know what you think of the story. Enjoy!

Today’s random word: Rapid

Twister: First sentence is, “I’m not going to the reading of the will…”

“I’m not going to the reading of the will,” William declared at breakfast.

His words echoed, carrying beyond the table like birds, past the footmen at the great doors, and into the fresh morning air. A drape of cold silence descended.

His mother, the dowager countess, didn’t blink once. She folded the paper she’d been reading and laid it down.

“Fine,” she hissed, burning him with a look. “And when you meet your father in hell, ask him why I deserved the stupidity of two Fitzroy men in one lifetime!”

With that, she rapidly gathered her voluminous skirts and left.
