In a hospital bed — Created using Bing AI image creation tool — Adapted with PowerPoint Designs.

The random word is bouquet, and the story must contain ‘the blanket is too loose.’

Drabbles are fiction stories that contain exactly 100 words. Because they’re so short, please let me know you were here by reading all the way to the bottom of the page.

Please highlight, clap, and comment — Thank you!

I lay in the hospital bed, fussing over my too-loose blanket. My mother came in holding a flower bouquet… her tears flowed like rain, puddling on the lip of her glasses.

Oh shit, this isn’t good. My mother’s foot was run over by a bus while she stood in the crosswalk… not a single tear. So, WTF could this be?

The doctor said I have Stage 4 chronic kidney disease. My kidneys are severely damaged, and I need an immediate transplant.

The good news? My twin brother is the perfect match. The bad news? He is in the morgue.
