Today’s random word is: necessary

With three fast-growing children, Sandra declared that they were bursting at the seams. A much bigger home was necessary.

“Every cupboard, every shelf, every nook and cranny is crammed with toys, clothes… and lots of junk,” she added regretfully.

I couldn’t help wonder why she hadn’t thought about giving the children’s toys away to the needy, or why she didn’t realize that her sister’s children at the very least, would have been whooping with joy to receive their labeled clothes.

It didn’t occur to her, and I was somewhat reluctant to spend hours of my life trying to explain.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.

Here too, is the link to Nancy Oglesby’s Fiction Shorts where you may join and write your own drabbles.
