RWDrabble 2.0.037 | Rebuke
A Drabble is a fiction story of exactly 100 words — no more, no less. So please stick around for 30 seconds so Medium can see it’s been read. Any claps, highlights, and comments will help support my work and encourage me to keep going.
Our drabbles should feature the random word of the day and be based on the image in the graphic.

The decisions that led me to be here were not without rebuke. A childhood punctuated by neglect and abuse was a bad omen. The bullying followed right through until this morning.
My marriage was unhappy; words cut deeply, and fists even more so. The mood in the house was heavy, filled with fear. I had to quit work and stay indoors. I became a slave.
But I managed to purchase a rundown house on a headland miles from home in secret. Its timber boards are rotting, the paint flaking and the windows are broken. But it’s mine, and it’s safety.
