A Scribe’s Life in Anglo-Saxon
RWDrabble 2.0.023 — Informative.
Today’s random word is informative, with a twist that must be set in London in the Middle Ages.
“What a valuable manuscript,” Father Leofric whispered, his hands trembling. “It’s an informative glimpse into the past,” he continued, carefully examining the aged pages.
It was a chronicle of life in London during the Anglo-Saxon period. You’d think that being a scribe in a monastery might be one of the better jobs. But, in truth, it was painstaking work.
“First of all,” Leofric muttered, “you’ve got to rear the sheep. It took a flock of 300 to produce enough vellum for one Bible.”
He smiled to himself, amazed at the dedication that had been poured into each page before him.
