RWDrabble 2.0.034 | Variable
A Drabble is a fiction story of exactly 100 words — no more, no less. So please stick around for 30 seconds so Medium can see it’s been read. Any claps, highlights, and comments will help support my work and encourage me to keep going.
Our drabbles should feature the random word of the day and come with a range of elements that need to be included. These are a castle, a chest and a single yellow rose.

The weather in the valley beyond the ancient castle had been changing with unnerving frequency. It was almost as variable as the master’s moods. Not that that should be surprising, confined to the crumbling castle for a century and counting.
And yet, despite the length of the curse upon him, he still found undiscovered rooms. The door protested with a squeal of old rusted hinges. Dust covered every surface. The master opened an old wooden chest in a corner. From within he was bathed in the warm glow of a single yellow rose. It filled him with light and happiness.
