A Drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words. It’s not always easy to edit a story down to just 100 words.

Every Tuesday, John headed to the beach for some quiet reading time.

The relaxing rhythm of the waves sent him into a blissful sleep. His head fell sideways and the book dropped to the sand.

The ocean, perturbed that John was no longer paying attention, decided to send a rogue wave as a wake-up call.

John, unaware of the impending drenching, heard a roar, looked up, and saw the big wave coming toward him.

As the water soaked him, he simply picked up his soggy book, adjusted his glasses, and said to the ocean, “Rather dramatic don’t you think?”

I don’t know about you, but my Medium notifications are still messed up today. Here is an update from Nancy Oglesby.

Please clap, highlight, and comment to let me know you were here. I might not get notified right away, but I will find it eventually.
