Random Drabble challenge word — administration.

The school’s administration asked us to write poems about our lives for a school poetry book.

I asked Mom to read my poem as I value her feedback.

life’s masquerade,
life’s merry-go-round,
dark clouds and grey skies —

Tear raindrops from my cell,

other’s expectations
Dad’s emotional abuse —
Past chapters of my book.

butterflies breaking free,

a new life,
sky soaring:
dreary cell-free,

a new mission, a new chapter.

I’m uniquely me,
a different destiny —
kindness and gratitude.

Angel wings carry me.
It’s the architect’s key.

“Jay, it’s lovely,” Mom says hugging me — a tear in her eye.
