Alligators don’t make good pets.

It’s the kind of thing you shouldn’t really need to be told, but is easy to forget. Heat of the moment, and all that.

She was like this with her men, too. Always trying to fix ’em, make ’em something they’re not meant to be.

Muriel looked over at her latest project, creeping cacophonously toward Buster, who was happily jowls-deep in his dinner. Once again, she’d have to be the one to do what needed to be done.

Hell — she was tired of grazing through the pantry, anyway.

It’d be stew for dinner, tonight.
