Bad Business
A short story
Day 188 Drabble challenge — random word: remind; genre: western
Two cowboys enter the saloon, looking like trouble. New faces. Leon, the owner, discreetly holds his revolver behind the counter as they order.
“Milk, please”, says the first.
“Make that two”, says the second.
As Leon prepares their order, he is reminded of the drunken cowboys of the past. Healthy young guns were bad business. No one makes money selling milk.
A third man walks in with bloodshot eyes.
“Give me water and the wi-fi password.”
A shot is fired.
“Everybody out”, Leon shouts, revolver in hand.
He spills the milk into the sink and pours himself a beer.
