This would be Eko’s first marathon. She wanted to participate, but whenever she raised the idea she was shot down… the terrain was too rough … the mountain scale arduous... just NO!

Still, morning and night her heart said yes… yes you can, Eko.

Quietly she paid her fee, asking the organisers to keep her secret.

For the next month, she listened to others discussing who would be first or second among the established runners.

There was no doubt.

Eko trained at sunup. She also trained her mind.

That morning she passed all but two runners… until that final spurt!
