Brad sat at the kitchen table with a spreadsheet, two pens, and the confidence of a Wall Street analyst ready for negotiations.

“I need to ask for more allowance,” he said. “With school and my shifts at McDonald's, I need a reliable way to get around. A used car would help. If I could just get an extra hundred a week, I could — ”

His dad leaned back, sipping coffee. “Why don’t I just buy you a new car and raise your allowance so that you’ll have no worries? What kind of car would you like? Maybe a nice red Bugatti would be to your liking.”

Brad grinned. “Seriously? No, nothing that expensive. Maybe a Mercedes-Benz G-Series? With surround sound, running boards, and heated seats. Maybe the heated seats are standard with the G-Series. Midnight blue would be icy cool.”
