The DNR asked to see the fish Jimmy said was 30". The minimum size was 12". He held up a metric ruler and wanted them to believe the scale was inches. The fish was only 10" not 30".
Jimmy was trying to pass off a small fish as being much larger than it actually was by using a metric ruler and claiming it was inches. The officers were knowledgeable about the specific regulations for measuring fish.
Know the law. Ignorance is no excuse. If you do the crime, pay the fine.
Jimmy had to pay, and he lost the fish.
