Random word: Seize
Twist: A drabble and a half that must include a cup of coffee

I hear the coffee grinder whir as I enter the coffee shop. The waitress is busy grinding a pound of freshly ground coffee for a customer.

The whirring sound transports me to my childhood. I can see my mom’s kitchen and hear the chickens cluck-cluck in the garden.

“Can I help you, sir?” the waitress asks.

“A cup of freshly brewed coffee with a dash of cream,” I reply.

“Seize the day, Andy. Enter it with a hop and a skip in your step,” my mom said every morning as she placed a cup of freshly brewed coffee with a dollop of cream in front of me at the breakfast table. “A new page is given to us when we wake up, Andy. A new day to live our dream and make a difference in the lives of others.”

It’s time to seize the day and live mom’s words.

I enjoyed the story of Jessica Morgan linked below:
