A drabble is a short fiction story with exactly 100 words. Nancy’s challenge encourages us to write a complete story, with a plot and characters, inspired by a random word chosen each day.

Sophia’s secret must remain exactly that – a secret. She had tolerated marriage to octogenarian Nigel Forbes for ten years. She loved only one thing about him — his millions.

She was terrified when her own father of all people had discovered her affair.

She had screamed in desperation in his car when he threatened to expose her unless she confessed herself.

The crash was a blur. Grabbing her father’s coat frantically. Tires screeching… blackness.

Now they were in intensive care. The life support beeped monotonously.

Her secret had to stay secret! The power light glowed amber.

By any means necessary.
