The Daily Drabble Journey continues — short stories of exactly 100 words. Please stay on this page for at least 30 seconds, so we know you’ve been here. Also, I love hearing from readers so please feel free to highlight, clap, comment — let me know what you think. Many of us on this journey enjoy engaging with readers and writers. I am one of them. Thank you.

“I am not going to the reading of the will,” William, only son of the deceased billionaire announced. With such rapid response, people figured his father previously gave him the details — maybe even a copy — of the will. Not being executor, William wasn’t required to hear the will being read.

William was pompous and obstinate, as cantankerous as his father once was. The attorneys and accountants tried diligently, but failed to convince him to meet with them.

On that memorable day, everyone shockingly learned that the entire estate was donated to charity, except for a racing horse left for William.

LESSONS:
1. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. That horse might be your only gift.
2. Be humble, curious, compassionate
