The random word is freak, with a twist to include a recipe (!)

This is my first ever recipe drabble — let me know what you think of these nostalgic 100 words.

“What freak made this?” Betty squealed in delight at the cake labelled, ‘The Good Witch’ (kindly donated by the Amberley family).

Volunteering at the Kindergarten Charity Bake Sale would count as “Community Kindness” for her school report. She never expected to find anything good.

“It’s perfect. They’ve got the purple frosting, french fries for hair and that licorice broomstick is adorable!” It was worth every cent of her pocket money.

Nearby, four-year-old Andy Amberley squeezed his mother’s hand. “You’re getting our witch back, aren’t you, Mummy?”

“Well… we already paid for the ingredients, and our time, and…”

Sold.

Choosing a cake from this cookbook has been a rite of passage for Aussie children for decades. There’s even a “Bluey” episode devoted to the infamous duck cake!
