Today’s drabble challenge word is passed.

Today’s drabble challenge twist is that today’s story must contain a horse.

Drabbles are short — only (and exactly) 100 words. This story is counted as read when you stay on the page for 30 seconds or more. Please read, highlight, clap, and comment to show you’ve been here! Thank you!

It took 123 years to grow one tight-knit community.

Perched at the end of a craggy peninsula, they’re protected from the encroaching metropolis 19 kilometres away.

763 residents, 136 canines, 53 felines, 17 chickens, 5 rabbits (or 75 given half a chance) and a horse lived in the 251 houses, 3 coops, and one stable.

But there’s just one road in and out…

So, it only took one speeding city-slicker on a roaring motorbike who arrogantly passed one plodding neighbour one Saturday morning…

And they were left with 762 residents, no more horses and one broken-hearted village.

Thank you for reading my drabble. Feel like creating your own? Come and join in.
