A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. Today’s drabble must begin with “of all the years” and include the word leap.

Of all the years, this one had been the worst. Or the best, perhaps. Lana was torn.

Struggles, though frustrating and stressful, bring lessons. Tragedies become triumphs eventually.

“You’ve made impressive progress this year. One leap after another,” Lana’s therapist claimed last week. Lana smiled, relieved she was finally getting better.

Better meant holding down a job without being overwhelmed by depression and anxiety. Better meant giving up alcohol and toxic men. Lana enjoyed healing, though stability felt weird sometimes.

But eventually, changes become the new normal, and life gets good — or better, at least. Lana was excited about 2025.

Shoutout to Nancy Oglesby and Fiction Shorts for this fun daily challenge!
