An unexpected twist in a routine day
Word of the Day: Exhaustive!
“Stop, thief!” shouted Emily. The market buzzed around her, and she sprinted after the elusive figure. Exhaustive minutes passed, and he slipped into an alley.
Her heart pounded. “Got you,” she whispered, triumphant. He turned, smirking, “You again?” They’d danced this chase before. Her eyes narrowed.
“Why do you steal?” he shrugged. “Why do you chase?” They paused. The silence thickened. “Maybe I enjoy it,” she replied. He tossed the wallet back.
“See you next week?” She nodded. As he vanished, she chuckled. Another mystery remained.
Would she ever catch him?
The thrill lay in the pursuit itself. Who knows?
