For Mom
Daily random word Drabble — Family / 150 words
How can you possibly represent someone’s life on a flat white piece of paper? And how can you sum up 92 years in a few words. The impossibility of it frustrates writers, creating untold hours of anxious contemplation.
All I can tell you is how it was in our family. While growing up, mom was always there. There was never any question. She was as radiant as the sunrise every morning, singing in the kitchen as she prepared a delicious breakfast.
All these years later, I look back on the days she spent just being our mom. Putting Merthiolate on our scratches, drying our tears and pushing us to “do the family proud.” She was a force in our lives. Ever present, ever the cheerleader.
The older I get, the more precious these fleeting memories become. They make up who I am. They are what made our family a family.
Read a beautiful, heartbreaking story by my friend Ludiane!
