The short fiction story below is a drabble. A drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.

She stared at the Tarot cards laid out before her, frantically searching for answers.

The Moon taunted her from the center of the spread, and Jayla sighed. She needed clarity, but The Moon symbolized confusion and illusion.

“Not the answer I wanted, but okay,” she snapped at her spirit guides. Jayla was already confused. She didn’t have time for the Universe’s games.

“Let’s try again,” Jayla commanded, reshuffling. The Moon fell out, landing on her lap. Why was this the card the Universe had chosen?

She stared at the card, lines blurring, until she understood. Sometimes life has no answers.
