RWDouble Drabble 2.0.107 | Bishop
A Drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.
The word of the day is BISHOP. Today’s drabble is a double drabble. The twist is the location: hanging around an abandonded power station.
The drop was scheduled for the top of the hour, but the deliveryman was late. Again.
It had been difficult ever since the administration started throwing “diversity” around as a slur, prohibited flavor along with fundamental human rights, but she hated the waiting.
Still, it was worth it even if she’d had to hoof it to the abandoned power station at the edge of town, shuttered along with everything else when American values had been trampled under the foot of tyranny and the ignorant fear-mongering had reached a fever pitch.
Un-American, they’d said. Too much risk, the avocados packed in together with drugs and hand grenades.
Ridiculous, she scoffed into the eerie stillness of memory. They’d taken out the king with a measly bishop. Absurd.
