Linda’s heart raced as she recognized her half-brother by the coffee machine. He had her mom’s features, and his eyes hid an unknown sorrow.
“Nathan?” she whispered, catching his eye.
“Yeah…Linda?” His voice trembled, questioning, and his eyes betrayed a hidden truth. “My entire life… it’s a lie. Dad, the one I knew, died in Cape Town. Turns out, I was born in Iowa.”
Linda’s mind swirled with disbelief. Questions in her mind. How could his origins be so obscured and deceptive?
