Drabble random challenge word from Nancy Olgesby ‘frame.’

“Anything happening in school today?” I asked my teenage son, a high school junior.

“Oh, nothing,” was his terse reply.

This frustrating question and answer scenario has been repeated countless times throughout his high school career.

I recently spoke with the school guidance counselor.

“Brian, you’ll get better results if you ask him a specific question, we find such a general query is confusing to the maturing teenage brain.

“Frame your inquiry: define the scope, the purpose, and perspective.

Fair enough.

Later, around the dinner table, “What was the score of the team’s football game Friday night?”

“Oh, nothing — nothing.”
