This 100-word fictional drabble responds to the August Random Drabble 232 challenge. It requires the use of the word clinic. Also, the story must end with this sentence: “I woke up this morning with wings.”

Dr. Johnson approached Julie and Eric, announcing, “Your baby boy.”

Crying, Julie asked, “Is he healthy?”

“Very healthy,” replied the doctor. “But his shoulder ligaments are detached, so he can’t raise his arms. Surgery can correct it, though. See Dr. Scofield at the clinic when he turns two.”

Julie and Eric spoiled Tommy. Finally, on his second birthday, they visited Dr. Scofield. Days later, he operated on Tommy’s shoulders.

After recovering, Tommy woke up and waved his arms for the first time. “Mommy, Daddy,” he cried.

Tommy declared as they entered his room, “I woke up this morning with wings.”
