This is Daily Drabble Journey — short stories of exactly 100 words. Please stay on this page for at least 30 seconds, and let us know you’ve been here with claps, comments, or highlights. I enjoy engaging with readers.

Melody was trying to make a special gift for Mommy. It was a beautiful collage, made of quotes and clippings from the local newspaper and even some photos of silk roses that Melody knew Mommy loved.

Not understanding what Melody was doing, Sammy tried to raise his hand to ask if he could help his big sister; Melody didn’t see it — or chose to ignore him.

What happened next was a fiasco.
Sammy grabbed the glue, poured it on Melody’s collage, scattering glitter and scraps onto Melody’s work of art.

Next time, Melody would know not to ignore her brother.

LESSONS:
1. Hopefully Mommy replies: “It’s the thought that counts. Thank you!”
2. Be patient with siblings; they often look up to you as a role model.
