Drabble day #152 — “Subject”

The subject is the same as it‘s always been.

“Who’s right and who must be silenced?

Who is strong and who is wrong?

Who is worthy and who is unredeemable?

Me? You?” the trembling child asked.

“So many questions, child.

If you surrounded yourself with noise, peace eludes your spirit.

Be silent that you might hear your heart’s whispers of love,” the old sage replied.

“Am I strong? Am I wrong?

Where have I passed judgment and cursed others to damnation?

I am weary. I want more than war.

Who am I in the chaos?”

“Child, that is the question.”
