A Drabble is a work of fiction that is exactly 100 words. No more. No less.

The word of the day is RECAST. Today’s drabble is a drabble and a third.

What she’d find at the end of the map was still a mystery, but she carried her hopefulness in carefully cupped hands, indecision vanquished.

What if he was wonderful? What if it had all been a big, dumb misunderst-

She saw the lights before she heard the sirens, blue and red overtaking the car with their untimely urgency.

No. There was too much on the line for reason.

She made one of those decisions that recast the whole of one’s life in a moment, jaw set with the intention she’d been harboring since she came across that letter.

Accelerate.

He was her kin, and she’d meet him face-to-face and tell him so even if it happened seconds before she was hauled away.

He had a right to know she existed, after all.
