It’s All in a Laugh
RWDrabble 2.0.069 | Peel
Because drabbles are short, please consider staying on this page for at least 30 seconds so your time counts as a read. And while you’re here, a clap, highlight, comment, or all of them is greatly appreciated. It lets me know you were here.
“The banana had real a-peel,” Josh joked. His laughter highlighted his amusement, but his bedroom wall gave no reply.
“Why do you always practice in front of a wall, Joshua?” his mother asked. “Wouldn’t it make more sense to rehearse in front of an audience?”
“Crowds are fickle, Mom. Some clap, others jeer. The worst are the people who just stare at me — expressionless. I’m practicing not to show my disdain.”
“I hear Joe’s paying you now at the club. Congratulations! You comedians must have his folks rolling in the aisles.”
“Except for Marcus. He causes quite a row.”
“Causing a row” is defined by Collins dictionary as a loud, unpleasant noise or a serious disagreement.
Remember to visit Fiction Shorts often daily so you don’t miss my daily drabbles and those of other deserving drabblers.
Nancy Oglesby writes, “If you are unfamiliar with a drabble, it is a fiction story of exactly 100 words.” She gives a daily random word prompt to make the challenge more interesting.
Don’t miss out on today’s drabble.
