The candlelit table was perfect. Close enough to other diners to listen to their corny pickup lines and far enough away to maintain my privacy. So, imagine my surprise when my waitress delivered the bottle of Dom Perignon, citing it was free of charge — a gift from a random stranger.
I’m sure their intention wasn’t to enable an alcoholic, but who am I to refuse a kind gesture?
I’ve scoped the room numerous times, but no one has stood out as my generous admirer. After pouring two glasses of champagne, I waited.
When the bottle emptied, he arrived.
