Today’s drabble word is: POLICE

Story must end in: I laughed, and laughed, and laughed!

“Canberra City Police here … Mrs Saintly?”

“Yes! Is something wrong?”

“Yes and no, ma’am. We have your son and his three mates here. They haven’t done much wrong, just being belligerent … too much alcohol.”

“Now, we’re planning to lock them up for the night. Teach them a lesson, know what I mean?”

“Sure! I do understand, and I’m really sorry.”

“All good Mrs Saintly. Can you be here first thing in the morning?”

“Sleep well boys? Now, just grab yourselves a bucket and scrubbing brush. Toilets badly need cleaning!”

“I laughed, and laughed, and laughed,” she told me.

If you’re not already on board with writing drabbles, (short, 100-word stories, no more, no less,) do yourself a favour. Get stuck in! They are a lot of fun to write, but also serve as a lesson in tight writing, given the 100-word constraint.
