The random word for today is DICTIONARY.

A Drabble is a work of fiction told in 100 words.

“I hate the dictionary,” the speaker declared as he began the commencement speech.

He smiled internally as he heard the murmurs, observed the furrowed brows, and noted the arched eyebrows.

“I’ll tell you what I mean.”

He recounted how his house burned down after he fell asleep while reading the dictionary by candlelight.

He explained that he had been befuddled that a dictionary, containing words like “extinguish,” “abate,” “douse,” “put out,” “quench,” and “subside” could still not stop the fire.

“Class of 2024, in conclusion, don’t be like the dictionary — knowing all but unable to act when it matters most.”

This is a work of fiction. Unless otherwise indicated, all the names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents in this book are either the product of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner.

For 95 days, Nancy Oglesby has given the word for a 100-word drabble challenge. Here is the link for today.
