Today’s word is Waif

Finally, I reached her epilogue to human history.

“After the fireworks had subsided, and the sun had also sunk in shame, leaving the sky bereft and empty, the night fell unashamedly on it, clawing and howling like a wounded wolf. With no stars to accompany her lament for the lost light, the night raised her arms, baying along with those mourning their loss in this blitz too, until this waif of a moon rose out of the dumps, casting its feeble glow on the ravaged village, to help the night check the collateral damage done on her watch.
