Isobel finds a hidden receipt in John’s coat pocket.

A few days later, she finds an empty silver wrapper tucked into the console in his car. Isobel stares at it for a long time, bewildered at his betrayal.

Sorting clothes on laundry day, Isobel notices a stain on the shirt John wore on Friday when he came home late from ‘work drinks’. It has that distinct smell.

When he enters the kitchen, Isobel is getting marinated vegetables ready to grill for dinner. She gains the necessary clarity when John looks away guiltily.

“You’ll never lose weight sneaking kebabs,” accuses Isobel.
