“Tommy!”

Six-year-old Tommy pulls the blankets over his head.

“Wake up!”

Tommy sits up and looks around. “Who’s there?”

“It’s me, silly,” a raspy voice says.

“Woody? You’re Nana’s doll. You can’t talk.”

Through some eerie animation, it stands and walks toward the closet. “Come with me.”

Unafraid, Tommy slides from his bed. As he walks toward the closet, the doll opens the door. Bright light fills the room.

“She wants to say goodbye.” Woody jerks an arm toward the closet.

Tommy looks into a golden grassy field beyond the closet door. He squints and sees a woman standing in the field, waving.

“Nana?”

The woman turns and walks away.

“Bye Bye, Nana!”

The next morning, Tommy comes from his bedroom with Woody dangling by the arm. His mother is crying at the table.
