They waited patiently for what seemed like hours; in reality, it was only 20 minutes. Not bad, for an urgent care visit with no appointment, Billy thought.
Joy finally got seen by Dr. Brown; Billy explained Joy’s symptoms. The doctor took X-rays to confirm his diagnosis.
“Have you two been on a forest walk lately?” Dr. Brown asked.
“Yes — we took a hike Friday morning; Joy started acting sickly by that evening. What do you think?”
“It’s confirmed!” the doctor explained. “Joy swallowed pine needles. Poor puppy has a case of the collywobbles.”
Dr. Brown was the best veterinarian!
Lessons:
1. Dogs seek natural remedies for upset tummies; grass is better than pine needles.
2. Most pine needles are edible, albeit difficult to digest.
