Maybe it’s because she saw her mother constantly twist herself into almost impossible shapes to please her solipsistic father. Or maybe it’s just the human condition that somehow claims to love pleasure but is unconsciously drawn to things and people that inflict pain.

Whatever the case, Udeme grew up looking for love in every place other than herself.

So she let men who were no different from beasts tread their muddy footprints all over her heart.

It wasn’t until it was almost too late that she realized that one doesn’t have to kiss lots of frogs to find a prince.
